September 11, 2012
Time to try your hand again at writing an introductory analytical paragraph!  I think our discussions, your notes, and my handouts will make this process a bit easier than last time.  Your task is to write an introductory paragraph of an essay on how Sarty changes as a result of his epiphany.  Reminders:
  • Start really general and work your way to the specifics
  • EVERY sentence works towards your thesis
  • A + B + C = THESIS! (argument + topic + 3 major points = THESIS!)
  • Type, if possible

Write down some bullet points about redeeming qualities Abner Snopes may possess.  Without a doubt, Abner Snopes is a bad man and I think we all see the abuse and terror he puts his family through.  However, I argue that there are traits of Snopes that Faulkner admires.  Think about why Snopes burns down barns, destroys rugs of wealthy land owners, and has such a terrible attitude towards his family.  Consider the time period, how Snopes is treated and what Snopes wants for himself and his family.

September 7, 2012
1. Read and annotate "Barn Burning" by William Faulkner.  Have questions?  Go to edmodo.com and use your account to ask/discuss with your class!  Don't forget to click on your group once you sign in.
